Ice House Construction Expertise in Palatine, IL

DCA Contracting Services was hired to provide a feasibility and design study on an existing 1972 pre-engineered roller rink retrofitting into a new community ice rink.

With a keen evaluation of the building’s history up to its present time, DCA Contracting services was able to provide the private client with a highly accurate analysis of the existing site, existing building, zoning, and building code. DCA Contracting Services proposed a “reuse and re-purpose” concept that would capture the spirit of the building’s history and lower the overall environmental impact on the project while reusing the existing roller rink floor as finish material throughout the facility, reducing construction waste and carbon footprint.

By developing the facility in 3D, DCA Contracting Services could maximize efficiencies within the existing structure and determine the most efficient location for the arena and the supporting program, reducing building operations and mechanical (life-cycle).

This was accompanied by a schedule that ran parallel with the model and an in-sync estimated budget. This allowed our client to realize all project potentials and realities without negatively affecting the environment or site.

The newly retrofitted 37,500 SF arena houses one “game day” executive locker room, six dry-locker rooms, communal showers, a coach and referee locker room, and a 2,000 SF bar and restaurant.
