Oak Brook Public Library
OVERVIEW
Geometrically Unique Library Construction in Oak Brook, IL
DCA Contracting services, Inc. served as construction manager for the Oak Brook Public Library project. The 26,000 SF library was completed in 2002 with the Oak Brook Municipal and Fire Station project.
The library’s design is geometrically unique in that it is circular in plan with a serpentine perimeter hexagonal in geometry. Due to the uniqueness of the design, the building has a sun-screen required to reduce the solar loads, which cantilevers out from the perimeter wall. The construction of the facility’s exterior features horizontal lapped cedar combined with aluminum and glass. The main feature of the library is its fabricated steel frame dome ceiling.
